Chapter 11: Church of Christ Preachers, Elders, and Missionaries, Their Frustrating Behavior
Knowing the exclusive doctrines and culture since my youth, I am still dumbfounded over the deliberate blindness of the traditional American Church of Christ leaders. For churches to continue to honor and support people who rape and steal children of Deaf students is incomprehensible. Why do elders and other leaders put the Church’s name and doctrines ahead of an innocent victim? Is their reputation more important than justice for rape victims? Should they not be urging repentance of the culprits who rape and steal babies? They tell me the importance of not tarnishing the name of the Church of Christ. Why not put the name of the Church of Christ on the back burner and solve the crimes committed against deaf students? Isn’t that the right thing to do when considering scripture? Flabbergasted, conservative Churches of Christ make ME their target as an excuse to do nothing instead of doing the right thing. Openly, I proclaim they are not the only Christians, and Jesus saves us, not water baptism or Church of Christ membership, threatening their fundamental doctrines. The person who is whistleblowing about these crimes is a woman. Women in conservative Churches of Christ are not to be so vocal about church matters. From the beginning, Behailu knew all the crimes but covered everything. He keeps me from exposing corruption issues by damaging my name by sponsoring church elders and many others. People have told me I am a liar, vengeful, or mentally ill.
The main sponsor for the Ethiopian Mission is the Woodward Park Church of Christ, Fresno, California. I traveled 2,300 miles by car to California, hoping to find relief for the Deaf mothers, but the elders refused to talk with me. They told me to leave their church building or they will call the police. Sunset International Bible Institute (responsible for training preachers in Ethiopia) also did nothing. Rejection is the only fruit of that long, exhausting road trip in 2020. Church leaders should pressure the guilty to come clean and repent. But they won’t help because this business belongs to the sponsoring congregation. I went to the sponsoring church along with the ones training Ethiopian preachers, Sunset, but I was rejected, and they did nothing. Others said I am bringing ill repute to the name of the Church of Christ, so they will not help. Others have said it is an individual crime and must go to court.
